I am an Exmouthian now living and teaching in Hoylake on the Wirral. As part of our year 2 Geography study about 'Going to the seaside' we sent our Geobear to visit my sister, who kindly sat on the wall with the bear, in view of the webcam with a message and a wave for the children. They were able to observe a different type of seaside location while I had a wonderful trip down memory lane and a chat to my sister on the mobile. Even the headteacher approved! Only disappointment was that the boat-swings and merry-go-round had been removed. Needless to say my sister attracted quite a crowd of onlookers. The site is brilliant and eases the inevitable home sickness, even if I do manage to get home every school holiday. Thank you.

What an excellent webcam.
I keep a boat on a mooring just outside cockwood, and the web cam is great for checking the sea conditions.
Any plans to add a pan and zoom option to the live cam ?
Many thanks.

Very impressive indeed. Though I don't know Exmouth, my father lives in Dawlish so its nice to at least see what sort of day he's having.

And sitting in an office in London having a view of the season washing in and out beats the hell out of the view from the window.

Our son has just started uni at Exmouth and I shall watch the camera day and night to see that he is not fading away to a shadow (hence, eating properly) and not "staggering" home in the wee hours.
Son, we have our eye on you!!!!! Thank you Exmouthcam - you ease a mother's worried mind.

I live in Exeter and visit Exmouth two or three times a week for a relaxing walk across the seafront.

What an excellent idea to have a professional webcam on the cafe with so many viewing features, rather than the typical fixed camera.

Well done to all those involved in the project - I look forward to future developments.

It is a great place to live!

I am a regular visitor to Exmouth and am just getting to grips with technology. Have just returned home from hols there and couldn't wait to log on and view sites via cam - unfortunately tonight it is offline.

As a regular visitor to Channel View for coffee and watching the world go by, this is a wonderful idea as it will enable me to be on virtual holiday all year round. It will keep me going until my next visit.

Cam is great idea - well done. I love Exmouth and can't wait to come back!

Hi ,just wanted to say that I and my family have been visiting Exmouth several times a year since our daughter lived there whilst at uni. some years ago. We fell in love with the town and its people instantly and hope to move there asap. After a visit we are always homesick for the place and have found a lot of pleasure in being able to visit it daily via the webcam, When we discovered the webcam (via the camera in the Octogon) we also enjoy ringing our  granddaughters at a specified time and give them a wave. I take it the person complaining about the cam was a vistor as I have yet to meet a miserable local! I have just come out of hospital and am therefore enjoying visiting the web cam more as I convalesce. Will be back in October for the illuminated parade see you then regards, Margaret.

I think the cam is just great and a good advertising tool that shows some imagination. When you have been away from Exmouth for a number of years, it is nice to see familiar places, especially when you are viewing wet roads while sitting in 95 degree heat and no rain for months!

I was on holiday in Exmouth last week, and saw the advert for the cam in the window of the Octagon. I have viewed it several times since I came home, and think it's brilliant. We holiday there every year, so I shall be a keen viewer in between visits!
